DESCRIPTION & PRICE

Like most essential oils, Geranium Essential Oil has a wide variety of historic uses (see chart). For example, Geranium Essential Oil assists a woman's adrenocortical glands, thus helping to reduce the affects of PMS, acne and menopausal problems; while, for the outdoorsman, it's terpene constituent makes it a powerful mosquito/insect repellent.

Native to South Africa and widely cultivated in Russia, China and Egypt, geraniums and the oil derived from them have become increasingly popular in ornamental use, as well as, in the cosmetic and food industry. However, among the 700 varieties of geranium, only a few produce essential oil.

Neways' Geranium Essential Oil is harvested and distilled in Egypt from Pelargonium odorantissimum or the "apple geranium," a variety of geranium highly regarded for its soothing influence upon the mind and body. The leaves, flowers and stem of this geranium plant are steam distilled to produce Neways' Geranium Essential Oil with its sweet, fruity, yet penetrating scent.

Geranium Essential Oil's fragrance easily dominates and improves the scent of an oil blend containing pungent oils such as Tea Tree. Insects do not like the scent of geranium; therefore, this knowledge may be used in preparing an insect repellent.

Geranium Essential Oil has a balancing and harmonizing effect, particularly on the female hormone level. It may be beneficial for premenstrual syndrome and heavy periods, as well as, any problems experienced through menopause. Geranium Essential Oil may stimulate the lymphatic system and the circulatory system, making it useful for boosting circulation and helping eliminate possible water retention.

Geranium Essential Oil helps almost any type of skin condition. It helps promote cell regeneration and it may be the perfect oil for non-cystic acne. It helps soothe dry, sensitive skin and promote a healthy glow to the skin's complexion. Use it as a tonic and an astringent.

Geranium Essential Oil also has a tonic and sedative effect on the nervous system. Its functions can be deeply relaxing in a hot bath or energizing in a cooler one. Its uplifting effect may release the mind from negative or depressing thoughts. Consequently, it is easy to understand why Geranium Essential Oil has been traditionally used to dispel fatigue and depression and to calm stress and anxiety.

The sweet, floral aroma of Geranium Essential Oil may help one achieve an overall feeling of peace and health while encouraging a relaxed feeling of emotional security. Use it in Neways' Jet Diffusor to change the atmosphere in the office or home.

Geranium Essential Oil is said to promote smooth, radiant, unwrinkled skin on all complexion types quite possibly because it is one of the best circulatory essential oils.

To calm children before bedtime, soak them in a Geranium Essential Oil bath or Neways' Indulge, a Geranium scented bubble bath. Yes, Geranium's relaxing effects work well for adults, too!

INFORMATION FROM NEWAYS' AROMATHERAPY GUIDE and other sources.
(This list is by no means all-inclusive; it is a compilation of historic uses.)

Geranium (Pelargonium odorantissimum), a colorless essential oil, has a rose-like scent which is often used as a fragrance.

The main chemical components of Geranium Essential Oil include geraniol, geranic acid, linalool, eugenol and citral.

Geranium Essential Oil blends well with Basil Linalool, Rosewood, Lavender, Ylang Ylang Extra and other floral oils and is delightful when blended with citrus oils (e.g. Bergamot, Lemon, Orange, Tangerine, Grapefruit).

Neways guarantees all of our essential oils are raw, pure, unaltered, genuine and therapeutic. We do not alter our essential oils with synthetic fragrances, chemical additives, or vegetable oils. Our single essential oils are all single species, and our blends are combinations of single species. To our knowledge, Neways is the only large company in America that can truthfully make this claim. Quality DOES make a difference!

Geranium Essential Oil is diverse in its uses, potent in its effects and pleasing in its aroma.

General Instructions
Patch Test First! Before using any essential oil "neat" (undiluted), do a patch test first. Put a few drops on the back of your wrist or the inside of the elbow and cover with a bandaid. Leave for an hour or more. If irritation or redness occurs, bathe the area with a carrier OIL (e.g. olive oil, safflower oil, Neways' Mixing Oil--NOT water! …water will drive the essential oil deeper into the skin); wipe off and bathe the area again; wipe off and bathe the area again. Do NOT re-cover with a bandaid, but allow air exposure to the tested area for quicker healing. For future use, either reduce the concentration of the essential oil tested by half or more, or avoid it altogether.

You can do the same Patch Test with essential oils that you have diluted (mixed in solution, e.g. with Neways' Mixing Oil or Tangible Massage Lotion).

Direct "Neat" (Undiluted) Application: "Neat" (undiluted) Lavender Essential Oil and Tea Tree Essential Oil may be applied directly to skin, but Neways recommends diluting all other essential oils. This is especially important for first-time users, children and those with sensitive skin.

A General Note About Using Essential Oils: Western merchandising has stereotypically perpetuated a "more is better" conditioning upon society. Not so with essential oils. Small amounts are able to be effective. Western culture has also perpetuated the "prescription formula" approach--for example, take 3, 3 times a day. Not so with essential oils. Because essential oils are liquid, lipophilic, volatile, aromatic and comprised of very small molecules giving them greater mobility into and within the body, there may be more than one way to effectively use a particular oil. Starting out, the most important thing is to make sure the essential oils you use on the body are 100% pure, genuine and unadulterated--Neways' are, guaranteed! (Then you know that you are working with the essential oil itself and not with the chemicals and chemical reactions with which it has been adulterated.)

Never put essential oils in the eyes or the ears. If you accidentally do, use Neways' Mixing Oil to dilute. Never rinse the area with water as water forces the oil deeper into the tissues.

Do not use essential oils internally.

Some oils are photosensitive therefore, do not expose your skin to direct sunlight when applying citrus oils.

Store essential oils in a cool place out of direct sunlight.

As with any nutritional supplement, consult a health care provider prior to use if you are pregnant or nursing, have a medical condition, or are taking any medication. Also, please store out of reach of children.
(back to usage menu)

The Holistic Approach:
In simplified terms, the "whole/complete" (holistic) approach to essential oil effectiveness is not an instantaneous quick-fix. The goal is support for the rebuilding of the body's systems to achieve complete healing and maintain a strong system. Waiting until illness and disease strikes, is akin to shutting the barn door after it's been torn down and the milk cow has departed. Prevention is always better than cure. Prevention is also the best form of "insurance." But for those who have a hole in their wall (are in need of a "cure") repapering the wall (a superficial quick-fix) is not as sustaining as rebuilding the structure (giving the body the nutrients it needs to be strong and healthy). Putting wallpaper over the hole may be faster, but it won't keep the wind, rain and rodents out for very long--and then it won't be just the wall that will need rebuilding, but also the carpet and other areas as well. Yes, rebuilding might take a little longer, but when the job is done the walls and the whole building will be strong once again.

WHAT OTHERS HAVE SAID

"I know Neways essential oils and other products work because I use them. They are truly different. … I know the quality of Neways essential oils because I know the reputation of the people associated with this product line. (John Black, Quality Control Expert, Annemarie Buhler, first woman to bring EO scientific research into the US, etc.) Neways was the first company in the US to guarantee their essential oils had been analyzed using both a GC/MS. (Neways will send testing results to you free of charge upon request.) I know Neways Aromatherapy does not mind being closely examined. They are very open to answering any questions you might have."
--Toni van Gils, Neways' Aromatherapy

"This is the criteria for the Neways Essential Oil line: genuine, authentic, unaltered, pure, holistic and therapeutic Essential Oils all rolled into one. No other company can boast this. Neways Essential Oils are totally unique because they are free from all chemicals and pesticides, guaranteed! I stake my personal claim on it--free from chemicals, free from any kind of chemical or natural adulteration, and all are single species."
--John Black, Quality Control Expert

Question: How long does a 15 ml/.5 oz. bottle of Essential Oil last in the Jet Diffusor?
Answer:
It depends on the thickness or thinness of the oil you are using. Orange Essential Oil is thin and Patchouli Essential Oil is one of the thickest. I usually turn the knob at the rear of the pump 1/4 turn and this is enough to cover 2,000 sq. feet of living area. I usually keep my Jet Diffusor in a bedroom on for no longer than fifteen minutes. In the general area of my home, I keep it on longer. There are no hard and fast rules for Diffusor use.

If you were to keep the Jet Diffusor on consistently at 1/4 turn, then Orange Essential Oil would last about 12-16 hours. This is non-stop. The thicker oils will diffuse more slowly. I hope this helps.

If I want to use an Essential Oil that is very expensive, I dilute the Expensive Oil with the cheapest Essential Oil in that Blend. For example, if I wanted to use Composure Essential Oil Blend, which I find to be very strong, I would dilute it with Orange Essential Oil. This way, I extend the more expensive Blend and I still get excellent results.

DO NOT USE Mixing Oil to dilute the Essential Oils for Jet Diffusor use. This will clog the Jet Diffusor. DO NOT USE water to dilute the Essential Oils. Oils and water do not mix.

In general, think of your health conditions, and where you want to be. Then, use the Essential Oil that may assist as listed in the AromaSense Brochure.

As I said, some Essential Oils are always best used in the Jet Diffusor, and some Essential Oils are best used either on the body or in the Jet Diffusor. The choice is totally yours, and I suppose if money is not an object, then use everything freely, but I feel most people don't fall into this category.
